Surveying companies Cornwall Surveying and Collinson Associates have joined forces to become Surveying Devon & Cornwall. The merger sees two well known surveyors bring their companies together.
John Collinson set up Collinson Associates in 2006 after spending 10 years as Managing Director at Monk & Partners. Previously he was an associate with Vickery Holman. His substantial experience includes Type 2 MDHS 100 asbestos surveys of residential properties and commercial properties; undertaking dilapidation, pre-acquisition, alteration and repair advice for a national chain (over 550 branches from Glasgow to Saltash) as well as managing the preparation of lease plans for all branches and the design and contract administration of refurbishment of residential and commercial properties, up to £3m in value.
Darren Mugleston moved to the South West in 2003 and later set up Cornwall Surveying after progressing from a graduate building surveyor to partner with a large practice in the Midlands . His practise quickly established an excellent reputation for homebuyer surveys and full building surveys of residential properties. In addition Cornwall Surveying was also instructed by major insurance companies to advise on policyholder claims and by Plymouth City Council on Decent Homes and Housing Health & Safety Rating System inspections.
“I am really pleased to bring the two businesses together. This merger increases our capacity to provide building surveys, defect analysis and project management to residential and commercial clients throughout Devon & Cornwall,” said Darren.
“Both Darren and I share a common sense attitude to surveying. Clearly we know the need to point out problems but we both understand the need to offer up solutions to make transactions happen. This kind of approach enabled us to grow our practices significantly and we look forward to making many more transactions happen as Surveying Devon & Cornwall,” said John Collinson.
The company has moved to a new office at Regal House in Saltash whilst retaining offices in Fowey and Ivybridge to service clients across the region. The merger also sees Kim Connew join as general administrator from Monk & Partners.
